Nakula (Sanskrit: नकुल, Nakula),is a protagonist of the epic Mahabharata. He is the son of the Goddess of Madri, Kunti's brother-in-law. He is the twin brother Sahadeva and was considered the son of god Aswin, healer god of twins.
According to the Mahabharata, Nakula was very handsome and very good-looking. According to Dropadi, Nakula was the most handsome man in the world. However, the vices of Nakula is proud of its good looks. This was disclosed by Yudistira in Prasthanikaparwa book.
Literally, the word Nakula in Sanskrit refers to the color of ichneumon, a kind of rat or rodent from Egypt. Nakula also can mean "mink", or it can also mean "rat Bengal". Nakula is also another name of Lord Shiva.
NAKULA IN MAHABHARATA
According to the Mahabharata, the twins Nakula and Sahadeva have special abilities in caring for horses and cattle. Nakula is described as being very comforting. He is also meticulous in carrying out their duties and always keep an eye on her sister's mischievous nature, Bima, and even against what seemed a serious joke. When the Pandavas suffered exile in the forest, the fourth Pandava (Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, Sahadeva) died from drinking poisoned water from a lake.
